JOAQUIN'S ART:

Joaquin sets out to create a new movie by first creating a robot made of a cereal box.

Step 1: The very first step is for him to create a drawing with the design of the robot so he knows how to go about creating the parts.

Step 2: With help Joaquin constructs the robot out of a cereal box.  He uses tape, scissors, and glue to cut and assemble the robot together.  Once the robot is created, Joaquin sets up the materials for painting the robot in white and then in silver paint to imitate a metal surface.

Step 3: Joaquin lets the white paint dry and then paints the robot again in silver paint.

Step 4: Then Joaquin adds "googley" eyes to his robot's face.

More of Joaquin's art.  The following is an example of Joaquin's creations in clay of two cowboys.  He created these when he was five years old.  It is interesting to see how his work often reflects what he is paying attention to and what he is interested, combined with the exploration of a specific material.

Book created by Joaquin.  Joaquin has been really involved in writing and illustrating books.  This book is titled: Robots vs. Robots.  He wrote the story on his own.  I only helped him with some words he had trouble spelling and with the final binding of the book itself.
